ou
want to
make a
name for yourself in the world. You want to make
a difference. Right now chances are you haven’t
settled on a particular career. But you’re
looking at the first step — where will I go to
get my undergraduate degree?
Choosing the right college to spend your
undergraduate years preparing for your career is
not easy. For one thing, there are so many
places to consider. How do you pick the one
that’s right for you?
At Ithaca
College you’ll find the curricular opportunities of a large university with the
friendly atmosphere of a college. Through our
Schools of Business, Communications, Health
Sciences and Human Performance, Humanities and
Sciences, and Music, and our Division of
Interdisciplinary and International Studies, we
offer over 100 degree programs. For more than a
century
Ithaca has been engaging students in active,
hands-on learning that brings together the best
of liberal arts and professional studies.
Whatever your interests, you will find a curriculum that matches your
individual goals and prepares you for a lifetime
of success.
Our alumni have gone on to become leaders in their fields, from
accounting and athletic training to teaching,
television, and the theater. For more than a
decade the Professionals Symposium has brought
dozens of
Ithaca
College alumni of color to campus for a weekend of seminars and discussions.
Hailed as a model networking program, the
symposium offers mentoring and networking
opportunities for careers in such fields as
business, education, communications, law,
medicine, and human services. Through the
symposium students have the opportunity to learn
more about what’s happening in the field.
Our students earn national recognition even before they leave
Ithaca.
Television-radio major Mary Nhotsavang was named
one of the 25 most promising minority
advertising students by the American Advertising
Federation and Advertising Age
magazine. Matthew Sprague, a physics and
chemistry double major, earned a prestigious
Goldwater Scholarship, the top national honor
for undergraduates in science and mathematics.
Bora Yoon was recognized for her songwriting
talents with a John Lennon Scholarship from the
BMI Foundation. And business majors Syrena
Shirley, Gregory Pardo, and Tugce Dursun
received scholarships — three of five awarded
nationally — from Sigma Iota Epsilon, an
honorary professional management fraternity. |

Faculty members invest personally in the success of
their students, offering each individual the
balance of challenge and encouragement so
important to growth and accomplishment.
Dedicated first and foremost to undergraduate
teaching, they are also noted for their
research, publications, and professional
activities. Their involvement with students
helps make up the special sense of community at
Ithaca. With our 11:1 student-faculty ratio, you
will receive personal attention from your
professors — in the classroom, during office
hours, or over a cup of coffee in the Campus
Center.
You’ll find a variety of ways to become a part of the
community here. There are more than 150 student
organizations, including Kuumba repertory
theatre company, the African-Latino Society, the
Asian Culture Club, the Native American Cultural
Club, and Habitat for Humanity. Joining campus
organizations “widened my group of friends,”
says Amanda Hernandez, a business major from
Pelham, New York,
who participates in the Amani Gospel Singers,
hosts prospective freshmen during the Inside
Look program, and serves as a multicultural
ambassador for the admission office. “Being
involved also makes me feel that I’m making a
difference in the IC community.”
