Business in a Whole New Light

entley is a national leader in business education. Centered on education and research in business and related professions, Bentley blends the breadth and technological strength of a university with the values and student focus of a small college. A Bentley education combines an unparalleled array of business courses with hands-on technology experience, and a strong foundation in liberal arts. The result is that students gain expertise for a competitive edge in today’s economy and broad-based skills essential for success in all areas of life.

A Well-Rounded Education at a Great Business School:  Integrating the study of business and the liberal arts is a distinctive strength at Bentley. Half of all required courses are in the arts and sciences. In addition, students have the opportunity to pursue a double major in business and liberal studies. Students take the same number of courses, but add another credential to their degree. This unique blending of disciplines allows students to build critical-thinking and communication skills that allow them to stand out to future employers. Students also benefit from small class sizes, on average about 25 students. Our approximately 450 full-time faculty members are respected teacher-scholars, known equally well for their classroom skills and leading research.

Hands-on Learning:  Bentley students can take advantage of facilities that are among the first of their kind in higher education.  A Trading Room, the largest in higher education, combines technology and real-time data to let students explore key financial concepts in simulated stock trading sessions. In the Center for Marketing Technology (CMT), undergraduates learn the latest strategies in marketing and advertising. The Accounting Center for Electronic Learning and Business (ACELAB) is a valuable resource for any student taking an accounting course.  The Media and Culture Labs and Studio supports new programs in media studies and media arts and features current resources for video production and editing, as well as digital photography.  Bentley students also benefit from a wireless campus and through the Bentley Mobile computing program, all freshmen receive a laptop (upgraded after two years) loaded with software and network-ready.

Learning beyond the Classroom:  At Bentley, students connect classroom learning to practical experiences through internships, student organizations, and activities. For example, students can learn first hand about other cultures through study abroad programs in a number of countries including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Egypt, England, France, Hong Kong, Brazil, Ghana, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, and Spain. Students gain

experience through assignments in the Bentley Service-Learning program and internships. Internships provide students with the chance to fine-tune skills, explore interests, and make valuable connections. The Boston area is a gateway to many job and internship opportunities. In fact, more than 94 percent of students complete at least one internship during their four years at Bentley.

Life at Bentley:  The Bentley campus, set on 163 acres in suburban Waltham, Massachusetts, is friendly and student centered. It boasts more than 80 student organizations: academically oriented groups, performing arts groups, campus media, fraternities and sororities, cultural organizations, and more. The College also fields 23 varsity athletic teams, a thriving intramural program, and a full range of recreational sports. In addition, the campus is home to students from over 40 states and almost 80 countries, promoting a lively exchange of perspectives and a global outlook. About 80 percent of Bentley students (98 percent of freshmen) live on campus, creating a spirited sense of community. Housing includes residence halls and apartment-style buildings, featuring traditional dorm rooms, apartments, and suites. Housing is guaranteed to students for all four years.

In addition, Boston, the ultimate college town, is minutes away. The city’s many resources, cultural events, sports, dining, shopping – are all within easy reach, via a free shuttle from campus to Harvard Square in Cambridge. In addition, Boston serves as the home to many well-known companies.  Consider this: within six months of graduation, almost 100 percent of Bentley students find professional employment or enroll in graduate school. Most receive more than one job offer, many as a direct result of internships.
